The Statement of Faith of Logos University is grounded in the authority of Holy Scripture and affirms the central doctrines of historic, orthodox, and evangelical Christianity as expressed in the Reformation tradition. These convictions shape the life that we aspire to live at Logos University. This Statement of Faith is meant to inform both our pursuits of truth and our practice of education.
WE BELIEVE in one sovereign, holy, and loving God, eternally existing in three persons: God the Father Almighty, His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, and the Holy Spirit, the giver of life; and we believe that God created the heavens and the earth out of nothing by His spoken Word, for His glory and according to His wise and perfect purposes.
WE BELIEVE that God has revealed Himself and His truth in creation, in the written Scriptures, and supremely in Jesus Christ, the eternal Logos made flesh; and that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God, inerrant in their original writings, and the supreme and final authority for faith, teaching, and conduct.
WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is fully God and fully man, united in one person without confusion or sin; and we affirm His atoning death on the cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven, and His present reign as Lord of all, High Priest, and Advocate for His people.
WE BELIEVE that God directly created Adam and Eve as the historical parents of the human race, made in His image and likeness, distinct from all other creatures and originally created in righteousness and fellowship with their Creator.
WE BELIEVE that through willful disobedience, our first parents fell into sin, bringing both physical and spiritual death into the world; and that as a result, all human beings are born with a fallen nature inclined toward sin and in need of God’s redeeming grace.
WE BELIEVE in the reality of Satan, sin, and spiritual evil, and that these powers have been decisively defeated through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and that all who repent and trust in Him alone are justified by His shed blood, forgiven of their sins, and reconciled to God.
WE BELIEVE that all who receive Jesus Christ by faith are born again by the Holy Spirit, adopted as children of God, and called to live lives of holiness, obedience, and joyful worship.
WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit indwells all believers, illuminates the Scriptures, empowers them for godly living, produces spiritual fruit, and equips them for faithful witness and service in the world.
WE BELIEVE that the one, holy, universal Church is the body of Christ, composed of all true believers; and that the mission of the Church is to worship God, proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, make disciples of all nations, care for God’s creation, and seek justice, mercy, and the flourishing of all people, especially the poor and vulnerable.
WE BELIEVE in the blessed hope of the personal, visible, and glorious return of Jesus Christ, who will gather His people, raise the dead, judge the nations, and bring His eternal Kingdom to its full consummation.
WE BELIEVE in the bodily resurrection of both the just and the unjust, the everlasting punishment of those who reject God’s salvation, and the everlasting joy and life of those redeemed in Christ.
